Sponsor Our ArticlesAiken is set to welcome a new Zaxby’s restaurant in the former Ruby Tuesday location on Whiskey Road. The new fast-food establishment will occupy a 3,636-square-foot space, accommodating 56 seats and featuring a double drive-thru. After the previous Zaxby’s closed in 2022, community members are excited to have their favorite chicken dishes back. The City of Aiken Planning Commission has approved plans for the new restaurant, signaling growth in local dining options amidst other developments in the area.
Aiken has some exciting news for fast-food lovers! A new Zaxby’s restaurant is gearing up to take over the former Ruby Tuesday location on Whiskey Road. This comes after a series of changes to the property that has been attracting quite the buzz in the community.
Many in Aiken will remember that the previous Zaxby’s, located at 1725 Whiskey Road, closed its doors in the latter half of 2022. Fast forward to late December 2024, and a new player has entered the scene! 10 Ring Investments LLC finalized the purchase of the empty 3,636-square-foot building and surrounding half-acre lot for a cool $1.25 million.
There’s a bit of history to this location. The previous owner, Branchwater Aiken LLC, bought the space for $1,005,000 in October 2022. Before that, 1725 Whiskey Road LLC purchased it from Zaxby’s Properties LLC for $650,000 in May 2022. Talk about a whirlwind of real estate activity!
The new Zaxby’s is coming to 2285 Whiskey Road, where Ruby Tuesday once greeted patrons. This proposed restaurant is expected to be around 3,000 square feet and designed to accommodate 56 seats along with a convenient double drive-thru. It’s set to replace the existing Zaxby’s and will hopefully bring back the beloved chicken dishes that residents have missed.
Big news for those watching this development: the City of Aiken Planning Commission has unanimously approved a recommendation for the new Zaxby’s, along with a rezoning request to change the classification from General Business to Planned Commercial. Interestingly, a traffic study isn’t needed because the height and density of traffic associated with the new restaurant meets city guidelines.
For those who can’t wait for the new spot to open, you’ll be glad to know that there’s already another Zaxby’s operating at 130 University Parkway in Aiken. So whether it’s chicken fingers or their famous sauces, locals can still satisfy their cravings while waiting for the grand opening of the new establishment.
Besides the Zaxby’s news, the Aiken Planning Commission has been busy with other discussions too. They recently examined a proposal for an additional 144 multifamily units to be constructed at Grand Oaks Apartments, which is conveniently located across from the Aiken County Government Center. Community growth and new dining options seem to be making Aiken a more vibrant place than ever!
With the final touches being made to bring the new Zaxby’s to life, Aiken residents have plenty to look forward to. This new restaurant will not only fill a vacancy left by Ruby Tuesday but also delight locals with tasty chicken dishes once more. The roll-out of new eateries and community housing developments reflects an exciting time of growth for the charm-filled city of Aiken.
Keep your eyes peeled on the developments, as more details about the opening day for the new Zaxby’s are sure to be the talk of the town!
