In the vibrant city of Aiken, baseball fever is in the air as the USC Aiken Pacers kicked off their much-anticipated season with an exciting three-game series against Mars Hill. The action-packed weekend provided plenty of thrills for fans, showcasing the resilience and talent of the team as they fought their way to a series victory.
The festivities began on January 31, 2025, and what a way to start the season! The Pacers delivered an outstanding performance in the opener, triumphing over Mars Hill with a staggering score of 18-3. It was a game to remember, as the team collectively unleashed a flurry of hits, racking up an incredible total of 20 hits throughout the game. Among the stars of the evening was sophomore sensation Capers Molinaroli, who turned heads by tying a program record with five hits. His spectacular outing included a home run, two doubles, and an impressive four runs scored, which is nothing short of phenomenal!
Another player to contribute significantly was Josh Sharp, who stepped up and made his mark with four hits and three runs scored. With astounding teamwork and determination, the Pacers set the tone early and cruised to victory.
Freshman Cannon Jones proved to be the hero of the day, delivering a crucial double in the sixth inning that propelled the team into the lead at 6-5. The crowd erupted with excitement as they witnessed the determination and grit of their team. Jared Huse, a sophomore pitcher, rounded out a fantastic performance with four strikeouts to earn the win, while Cole Evilsizor secured the save, ensuring that the Pacers finished the series on a high note.
