The Victims

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the victims were 40-year-old Kevin Sutton, a resident of Camden, and 22-year-old Tasheed Sutton, who lived in Cassatt. Both men succumbed to their injuries at the scene, leaving the community in shock.

The Investigation

As the investigation unfolded, authorities indicated that this was not a random shooting—“all parties involved knew each other,” the sheriff’s office reported late Monday night. However, details regarding a possible motive remain unclear, leaving questions lingering in the community. No other injuries were reported in this tragic incident.

In response to the shooting, officials from the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office were joined by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. They conducted a thorough search of the area, aided by a police dog team and a drone. Unfortunately, law enforcement believes that the shooter or shooters have already fled the scene, as no arrests have been made as of now.

The sheriff’s office has urged the community to assist in the investigation by providing any information they may have. They can be contacted at 803-425-1512 or 803-424-4000, or via email at Investigations@kershaw.sc.gov. Additionally, tips can be submitted to CrimeStoppers at 864-232-7463, or online. Investigators acknowledged that several tips have already started coming in, emphasizing the need for more information from the public.
