Sponsor Our ArticlesSixty-year-old Steve Dukes, who went missing on January 6, 2025, has been found safe in Augusta. The community and law enforcement collaborated to locate him, which has brought relief to his loved ones. In another case, Aaron James Brehm also regained safety around the same time, showcasing the effectiveness of community involvement in finding missing persons.
Great news for the local community! Sixty-year-old Steve Dukes, who had been missing since the evening of January 6, 2025, has been located safe and sound in Augusta. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) confirmed that Dukes was found around 11:47 AM on January 7, 2025.
Dukes was last seen leaving a personal care home located at 3212 Wrightsboro Road on foot at around 9:00 PM. Described as wearing a denim jacket, gray sweatpants, and a gray and white beanie, his sudden disappearance raised concerns, especially considering he suffers from schizophrenia and is diabetic. The RCSO had put out a call to the public, asking for any information regarding Dukes’ whereabouts.
The community rallied together, keeping an eye out for Dukes and providing the Sheriff’s Office with encouraging leads. Thanks to their help, he was ultimately found safe, much to the relief of his loved ones and the wider Augusta community.
In a related note, it seems that January 6 was a good day for missing person cases in the area. Aaron James Brehm, a 38-year-old man from Craigsville, also regained his safety around the same time. Brehm had been reported missing since January 2, 2025, after family members expressed concern when he failed to return home.
Brehm was last seen at his residence and is described as a white male standing 5’7” tall and weighing about 130 pounds. He has red hair and brown eyes. Reports indicated that he might have been driving a maroon 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer with Virginia tags VSS-7407, which heightened the urgency of the search for him.
Before he was found safe, the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) had issued a request to the public for any information regarding Brehm’s whereabouts, just as they did for Dukes. Thankfully, Brehm’s case had a happy ending, and his family was relieved to hear the news of his safety.
These two cases serve as a reminder of how crucial community involvement is in efforts to find missing persons. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Augusta County Sheriff’s Office worked together alongside local citizens to ensure the safe return of Dukes and Brehm, highlighting the importance of vigilance and care in our neighborhoods.
If you happen to see someone in distress or notice an individual acting unusually, it’s always best to reach out to local authorities. Every pair of eyes can make a difference when it comes to keeping our community safe.
As we continue into the year, let’s celebrate the safe return of Steve Dukes and Aaron Brehm. We wish them both well as they reconnect with their families and friends. Here’s hoping for more happy endings like these in our community!
