Kick off the week with some good old-fashioned bingo! Every Monday night, from 6 to 8 p.m., Aiken Senior Life Services is the place to be. Located at 1310 E. Pine Log Road, this is the perfect spot to unwind and potentially win some exciting prizes. The cover charge is just $5, and you can grab your game cards for $1 each or go for a larger pack ranging from $15 to $25. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow bingo enthusiasts, so don’t miss out!
Looking to make a difference? Join the community on Monday, Feb. 17, from 4 to 5 p.m. for a Vigil for Peace and Nonviolence. Organized by Aiken Women In Black and Moms Demand Action, this peaceful gathering will take place on Whiskey Road, directly across from The Fresh Market. Everyone is welcome to attend, and participants are encouraged to bring along nonpartisan signs or a chair to sit on. For more details, you can give Lynn or Brenda a call!
Are you a history buff? Mark your calendar for Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. as the Beech Island Historical Society hosts an informative meeting at 144 Old Jackson Highway, Beech Island. Pete Peters will be diving into Aiken’s aviation history, providing fascinating insights into our town’s past. If you’re interested in learning more about this event, just reach out to Jackie Bartley.
Join fellow book lovers on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 2:30 p.m. for a lively discussion at the Aiken County Public Library, located at 314 Chesterfield St. S.W. This month’s featured book is “The Unforgiving Minute: A Soldier’s Education” by Craig M. Mullaney. Make sure to sign up at the information desk on the second floor or give them a call for details.
For those interested in visual arts, the Canvas Painting Workshop is taking place on February 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Smith-Hazel Recreation Center. Just bring your own canvases and brushes. If films are more your style, don’t miss the ongoing USC Aiken’s International Film Festival, running until Feb. 26. Each screening starts at 6:30 p.m. and best of all, it’s free!
Aiken is also steeped in culture, with a special lecture by Zara Browne scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Reese Library, Augusta University. She will delve into the intriguing world of Murphy Village Irish Travelers. Later that evening, indulge in a Dinner Series with artist West Fraser for a three-course meal paired with artistic insights. Reservations are required!
