In a distressing incident that has raised concerns locally, a 28-year-old man from Aiken has been arrested following a domestic dispute that escalated alarmingly on January 17, 2025. Raquan Malik Hill found himself in hot water after officers from Aiken Public Safety responded to reports of a threatening situation involving a firearm.
It all began when Hill allegedly pointed a gun at two individuals during a heated argument shortly after leaving the Augusta Mall. Tensions flared at a residence located on Betty Court, which runs off Silver Bluff Road. Witnesses say that the argument quickly turned dangerous, as Hill reportedly threatened to kill a female victim three separate times. How terrifying for those involved!
According to the female victim’s account, Hill took her own gun and used it to threaten her. This action speaks volumes about the seriousness of the situation. But it didn’t stop there—multiple witnesses reported that Hill also aimed the firearm at a male individual before he fled the scene. Fortunately, during their investigation, officers discovered the gun abandoned near the backdoor of the residence—an important piece of evidence in this troubling case.
Officers acted promptly to locate Hill, apprehending him near the intersection of Betty Court and Smallridge Road. Interestingly enough, sources indicate that Hill chose to waive his Miranda rights during the arrest process, making the situation all the more complex.
Hill now faces an array of serious charges stemming from the incident. These include first-degree domestic violence, a felony that could lead to as much as 10 years in prison, along with two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, each of which carries a penalty of up to 5 years and/or a hefty fine. To add to Hill’s troubles, he is also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, punishable by an additional 5 years unless he receives a sentence of death or life. Quite a laundry list of charges!
After his arrest, Hill had his bond denied by an Aiken County magistrate the following day, January 18, 2025. Currently, he remains in custody at the Aiken County Detention Center, with no upcoming court dates scheduled. This leaves many wondering what the future holds for Hill, especially considering his previously established criminal history that dates back to March 2023, which undoubtedly paints a concerning picture.
